Our patterns are designed specifically for quilting by a computerized system. Many of them are also suitable for free motion, AND ALMOST ALL of them are suitable for quilting using an embroidery machine. In particular, those of you who use some of the machines with larger hoops will find it very easy to quilt using our patterns with your machine.
Some of our patterns are much too detailed or feature too much overstitching to be effectively sewn freehand. However, our very detailed patterns are also popular with hand quilters.
Here are some answers to questions that we often get asked:
Where do you get your ideas for patterns?
Wow! That's hard to answer... Sometimes I'm doodling and it comes to me, then sometimes looking at a quilt gives me inspiration for creating something that will "fit". However, I also get a lot of requests from customers and that helps keep our ideas fresh.
Do you use Clip Art?
Yes and no. It is very hard to create original art these days that is something that no one has ever used before. All of us get ideas from past experiences. That is one of the reasons most designers won't look at another designer's website! So if someone makes a request, I will often go through many of my royalty free sources. I may or may not actually use the clipart, but it gives me the idea on which way to go!
Do you test EVERY pattern?
Yes, we do, but not necessarily on every system. At the start we did and I quickly burnt out testers! <g> No one likes sewing stuff out for testing very long. Our patterns are tested by 6 different testers covering the full range of robotic systems we support. When we release a new grouping, each tester is assigned several of the patterns. We have found if there is a problem on one, it ends up being on all of them. By the same token, a pattern that runs fine has NEVER run poorly on another system. Actually, to date, the only problem has been that we digitized a pattern "backwards" OR right to left as opposed to left to right. That record's pretty good with almost 2000 patterns under my belt!
Sometimes you say "I" and sometimes "we". Aren't there other designers?
Yes there are, but I can't always speak for them! Actually some designers actually digitize their patterns, and some just send sketches. All of them have a slightly different style of working as well as very different pattern styles. You can read more about all of us by clicking  or on the "Our Designers" Link on the left.
Is there a way to order without an account?
There are several ways:
- BY FAX - When you are finished shopping, Print your shopping cart. Download, print and fill out our Fax Order Form.. Fax the shopping cart print out and the Fax Order Form. to us at 512.519.1661. If you do not want to put all your credit card info on the order form you can also phone us with that information. Please see the Fax Order Form. for more information.
- BY E-MAIL - When you are finishing shopping, you can cut and paste your shopping cart into either an e-mail or a document you attach. If you prefer, you can also make a list of the patterns you want. If you make a list, we need the Pattern Number, the name AND the price so that we don't make a mistake filling your order.. Make sure your e-mail contains your billing and shipping address (one is fine if they are the same) and your phone number. You can then call us with your credit card info. If you like, we can keep your card on file for future purposes. Otherwise we will run it when you phone us and not retain the details.
- BY POSTAL MAIL - Please include a printout of the shopping cart and fill out our Fax Order Form. If you are paying by check, we will wait for it to clear before patterns become available for download or are shipped. Delay can be 10 days if you are out of state. If you supply a Postal Money Order we will ship within 2 business days.
- BY PHONE - While we are not always available, we can call you back if you leave a message! Once more, we can retain your credit card info for future orders if you wish!
